BEFORE YOU BOOK
When is alcohol support different from medical care?
Mind Harbour can offer one-to-one support to discuss drinking, goals, routines, relationships, and recovery planning. It does not assess or treat alcohol withdrawal, prescribe medication, or provide detoxification. If you may be physically dependent on alcohol, seek medical advice before cutting down or stopping.
What Mind Harbour can discuss
You can talk about the place alcohol has in your life, what you would like to change, and the pressures or relationships connected to drinking. Sessions may help you consider practical next steps and the support around you.
You do not need to have stopped drinking before asking about support. The initial conversation can also establish whether a specialist alcohol or medical service should be involved.
When medical advice comes first
The NHS advises that suddenly stopping drinking can be harmful if you have become physically dependent. Speak to a GP or an alcohol service for advice about cutting down or stopping safely. Mind Harbour cannot provide a medical withdrawal plan.
The NHS says to call 999 for severe withdrawal symptoms, including hallucinations, severe tremors, or seizures. Do not wait for an online support appointment if urgent medical help is needed.
This page describes Mind Harbour's service. It does not replace individual medical advice or an assessment by an appropriate clinician.
