SUPPORT ON YOUR TERMS
You can start without having all the answers.
You may be dealing with relationship difficulties, low mood, stress, substance use or several things at once. The first conversation is about your situation, what you want to change and whether Mind Harbour is the right fit.
HOW MIND HARBOUR CAN HELP
Support for relationships, wellbeing and recovery.
Sessions focus on the concerns you bring and the goals you choose. You do not need to fit a diagnosis or arrive with a complete plan before asking for support.
Relationship Support
A private space to talk about relationship difficulties, communication, boundaries, family pressures or decisions you are finding hard to make.
What this can include
One-to-one sessions can help you understand recurring patterns, consider what you need and identify practical next steps. Mind Harbour does not currently provide couples sessions.
Support with stress, low mood, anxiety, work, housing, family pressures or a period of change that feels difficult to manage.
What this can include
Sessions can help you organise what is happening, recognise what is within your control and decide what support would be useful. Mind Harbour does not diagnose mental health conditions or replace specialist care.
One-to-one therapeutic support shaped around your circumstances, relationships, wellbeing and the changes you want to make.
What this can include
Sessions may draw on motivational interviewing, solution-focused techniques, social behaviour and network therapy, and CBT-informed strategies. This is not general psychotherapy or psychiatric treatment.
Look at how alcohol is affecting you and decide what change would be useful, whether that means cutting down, stopping or staying on track.
What this can include
Sessions can help you notice patterns, prepare for difficult situations and build support around your goals. If you may be physically dependent on alcohol, do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
One-to-one support to understand your drug use, reduce risk and work towards goals that you choose.
What this can include
You can look at triggers, routines, cravings and the effect drug use is having on other parts of your life. Mind Harbour does not provide medication or medically supervised withdrawal.
Plan for triggers, cravings, routines, supportive relationships and the situations that could put your recovery under pressure.
What this can include
If you return to alcohol or drug use, the focus is on what happened, what can be learned and what support would help now. A setback does not erase the progress you have made.
Straightforward support. No pressure, no standard script.
You set the goal. Mind Harbour helps you understand what is getting in the way and what could help.
Sessions are private, practical and focused on your current situation. You can talk about relationships, family, emotional wellbeing, housing, work, alcohol or drug use, and how those pressures may be affecting each other.
Sessions may use motivational interviewing, solution-focused techniques, social behaviour and network therapy, and CBT-informed strategies. If another service would be more appropriate, that will be discussed clearly.

What can I talk about?
You can bring relationship difficulties, family or work pressures, stress, low mood, anxiety, alcohol or drug use, recovery concerns, or several things that are affecting each other. The first conversation starts with what matters to you.
Do I need to have a drug or alcohol concern?
No. Mind Harbour also offers one-to-one relationship support, emotional wellbeing sessions and psychosocial therapy for wider life difficulties.
What kind of therapy does Mind Harbour offer?
Mind Harbour offers one-to-one psychosocial therapy. Sessions may use motivational interviewing, solution-focused techniques, social behaviour and network therapy, and CBT-informed strategies. The service does not provide psychiatric care, diagnosis or medical treatment.
Does Mind Harbour offer couples therapy?
Mind Harbour currently offers individual relationship support rather than joint couples sessions. You can talk privately about communication, boundaries, recurring patterns, family pressures and decisions within your relationships.
What happens in the first conversation?
You can talk about what has brought you here, what you would like to change and any support you already have. You can also ask questions and decide whether Mind Harbour feels like the right service for you.
Are sessions confidential?
Mind Harbour will explain confidentiality and its limits before you begin. Information may need to be shared if there is a serious safety or safeguarding concern, or where the law requires it.
Can I access support from outside the UK?
Mind Harbour is UK-based. Availability outside the UK depends on where you live and whether the service can work with you safely and appropriately. This will be checked before an appointment is arranged.
How much do appointments cost?
The initial assessment costs £20. Each session after that costs £40. You will always know the cost before arranging an appointment.
Can Mind Harbour help with detoxification or medication?
Mind Harbour does not provide medical assessment, prescribe medication or supervise withdrawal. It can offer harm-reduction information and help you consider when another specialist service is needed. If you may be physically dependent on alcohol or drugs, seek medical advice before reducing or stopping.
What if I need urgent help?
Mind Harbour is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 in the UK or contact your local emergency service. For urgent mental health help, use the NHS guidance linked below.
